The Food Chain

 

Grass, trees, bushes, and flowers are producers. Desert Cottontails, Desert Tortioses,  Wild Burros, Lizards, and sometimes Ravens are first level consumers. The Road Runners, Mountain Lions, and sometimes Ravens are second level consumers.

Water Sources

Rain will sometimes fall in our desert. When it does rain, the storms can often be violent. The rain will fill up waterholes and rivers. Therefore, the desert has plenty of water for all the animals.

The Desert Animals

Herbivores

  • Desert Cottontail-They animals produce quickly, they are prey for a lot of animals and eat grass(a lot like th zebras in venture Africa).
  • Desert Tortise-These animals eat grass and wild flowers don't need much water, they get most of there water from the plants they eat (a bit like the springhare.
  • Wild Burro-They eat plants and grass, they can live through a drought or water loss.
  • Livards- eat small insects like spiders.

Ominivores

  • Raven-They prefer meat over plants(eatssnakes and lizards).

Carnivores

  • Roadrunner-This animal eats eats insects, lizards, and snakes.
  • Mountain Lion-This animal eats antelopes, gazzles, warthogs, wildebeast, buffalos, and zebra.
