Use Proportional reasoning to solve problems.

 A proportion is an eqution that states that two ratios are equal.

8/12 = x/3

8/12=2/3

x=2

Proportional reasoning RULES

Let's check out other people's scribe posts from today 

-One numerator is a variable.

-It need an equal sign.          

You can cross multiply by multiplying numerator of one and denominator of the other.  Then do the same with the other ratio but right it the number then the variable such as this:5b.  Then you Inverse, Balance,  Solve, Check.  So at the end you get an equation like:b=25.  Also you can simlify the ratio without the variable.  So 9/27 is simlified to 1/3.
