Adding mixed numbers with unlike denominators.
Lesson
First, you need to find the LCD of the mixed numbers. Second, you must make equal fractions using the LCD as the denominator. Third, you must add the fractions, and then add the whole numbers. Then simplify the fraction if needed.
Example
2 2/3 + 3 4/9 LCD=9
2 6/9 + 3 4/9
6/9+4/9=10/9
2+3=5
Then you have to simplifiy your answer.
10/9=1 1/9
Then your answer is 6 1/9.

Your lesson is short and to the point--very good. I like how you wrote your example as well. AAAMath is a good site to practice your math skills.Mr. Tubbs
