Learning Target
Making conversions with the metric system.
Example
Here is the metric system broken down:The base for length is meters. The base for capacity is liters. The base for mass is the grams. Then you add on prefixes to change its value: Milli-thousandth. Centi-hundredth. Deci-tenth. Kilo-thousand. See the table below to help you make conversions:
kilo*1000=base*10=Deci*10=centi*10=milli
milli/10=centi/10=Deci/10=base/1000=kilo
An example would be 10 kilometers=? meters.
You would find this by multiplying 10 by 1000 which would give you 10000.
Then the answer would be 10000 meters in 10 kilometers.
