Learning Target:

Comparing and ordering fractions.

Example:

3/12   2/8   Change denominator!

 12      8

 /\      /\                                             3/12 2/8

3*4    2*4                 -SO-                      /\    /\              -SO-         3/12 = 2/8

   /\      /\                                           6/24 6/24

  2*2    2*2

3*2*2*2=24  24=least comman denominator (LCD)

Notice:

Same denominator (numorator is the same by conicidence) We use this to simplify and make it easier to find (LCD).

Use:

<,>,=,

Steps:

1. Find the least common multiple of the denominator to get the Least Common Denominator (LCD).

2. Rewrite each fraction as an equivalent fraction using LCD.

Very well done! I really like how you showed your example. It was easy to understand. You also got right to the point with your lesson. Good start!
