Learning Target- Find the least common multiple.

Lesson- The first thing you need to do is find the multiples of the numbers you are finding the least common multiple of.  A multiple is a product of a number and any other whole number.  When you do this you only need to find the first five or six multiples of each number.  Next, you need to circle all the multiples that are the same.  The number that is the same and is the lowest number, is the least common multiple.

Example problem- Let's say that you have the numbers 5 and 25.

5: 5, 10, 15, 20, 25

25: 25, 50, 75, 100, 125

The only thing you circle is 25, so the least common multiple is 25.

For more information about the least common multiple and to practice finding it, go to Amby's Math Resources.
