Learning How To Use The Metric System

Learning how to use the Metric System
This system can be fun and basic. Though, we use the Cuustomary System the Metric System is still manditory to know.
This system consist of...
Length, Mass, & Capacity. These are the units of the Metric System. The base units are meter, gram, and liter. Beyond these are kilo (thousand), deci (tenth), centi (hundredth), & milli (thousandth). To make this less complex look at the example below:
Example:
Below is the unit length. Since the base unit is meter, add the prefix to meter. Here are the abbrevations: km=kilometer, m=meter, dm=decimeter, cm=centimeter, and mm=milimeter.
Ex. 1
/1,000 /10 /10 /10
km m dm cm mm This is all compared to the meter(m). A mm is one-thousandth of a meter, x1000 x10 x10 x10 cm is one-hundredth, dm is one-tenth, and km is one-thousand meters.
Here is another example:
Ex. 2
5000mm= 500cm
50 dm
5m
Math Quote:
"Do not worry about your difficulties in mathematics. I can assure you mine are still greater." -Albert Einstein
These are all the people who DO NOT use th Metric System.

Learning Target:
Comparing and ordering fractions.
Example:
3/12 2/8 Change denominator!
12 8
/\ /\ 3/12 2/8
3*4 2*4 -SO- /\ /\ -SO- 3/12 = 2/8
/\ /\ 6/24 6/24
2*2 2*2
3*2*2*2=24 24=least comman denominator (LCD)
Notice:
Same denominator (numorator is the same by conicidence) We use this to simplify and make it easier to find (LCD).
Use:
<,>,=,
Steps:
1. Find the least common multiple of the denominator to get the Least Common Denominator (LCD).
2. Rewrite each fraction as an equivalent fraction using LCD.

Finding and Measureing circumference
Here's what we did:
We measured circumference (around a shape) and we measured diameter (in the middle across the top). All this connects to go pi (π) because the diameter times pi equals the circumference.
Example:
d*π=c d=diameter *=times π= pi=3.14 c=circumference

Solar Water Heater Blog Project
Solar Water Heater-
Question-
If we use black plastic instead of white to use as a inner coat of the container and put water in it will the black plastic heat faster than white? Covered or uncovered?
Hypothesis-
I think...If the black water heater is in the sun it will then heat the fastest.
Results-
The covered black solar water heater increased four degrees, which was the highest.
Conclusion-
The black covered water heaters heat water the fastest.
Changes for next Time-
You could make a funnel shape water heater instead of what we used. I think the funnel shaped water heater would heat the fastest because it might attract more light.
New Questions-
Would it work better if you had a funnel shape?
