Surface Area

Learning Target: Learn the formulas for finding surface area.

The Basic Way: Here is the easy way to learn surface area; for the shape, there is length, width, and height. The next step you should take, is to multiply. Multiply the length by the width, the length by the height, and the height by the width. The answers of the multiplication problems you add together. IF the shape is a prism, you multiply the sum of the three answers by two. DO NOT multiply by two if the shape isn't a prism.

Formula: the formula for a rectangle is LxW+ LxH + HxW.

The formula for a prism is LxW + LxH + HxW x2
